Patch 4.3, Transmogrifier, Looking for Raid, and Deathwing

So a bit of information has been spread about 4.3 and its brought some very interesting news. First off, patch 4.3 will contain the Deathwing raid. The showdown with the Aspect of Death himself is finally here. The Deathwing raid will be the last raid of the expansion. Thats... interesting. I'm holding my thoughts until the PTR actually gets here and I can actually see the instance itself.

We're getting three new 5 mans. New. Not like ZG and ZA. This I like. The Icecrown Citadel 5 mans were the best 5 mans in WotLK and some of the best ever, imo. Maybe we'll get a couple of 5 man bosses that can rival Bronjahm and the Devourer of Souls. YOU DARE LOOK UPON THE HOST OF SOULS?

The addition of a new "Transmogrification" feature. This will allow you to change the appearance of a piece of gear into that of another piece that is the same armor class. This is something that alot of people have wanted for a long time. Good addition, very nice.

Void Storage will be a new type of bank that will allow characters to store pieces of armor to free up regular bank and bag space. Things like this will never hurt. Ever.

Lastly, Blizzard is apparently introducing a Looking for Raid feature. It will work like the current Dungeon Finder. I'm not too sure about this. I mean, the concept in of itself is fine. The implementation is also fine. What isn't fine is the community. I don't think I need to go into detail about the experiences that people have had in the Dungeon Finder. A Raid Finder might make those things so much worse. So much fucking worse. I hope these features get on the PTR and I hope the PTR goes live soon because I plan on doing video coverage of everything that I can. The transmogrification stuff, the void storage, most importantly: the new 5 mans, perhaps the raid content. Video possibilities are a many.

The Mists of Pandaria

Alright, so if there was ever a bit of news that could spark interest in writing an article on possibilities the front page of MMO-Champion currently has it. Apparently Blizzard has trademarked the phrase "Mists of Pandaria". Its classified as
Computer game software; computer game discs; computer game software and related instruction manuals and guides sold together as a wireless devices; interactive multimedia computer game program; mousepads
So, upon first reading the name "Mists of Pandaria", I thought book. Instantly. I was like "oh cool, Christie Golden is writing a new book. Blizzard is making her work hard right now." But that classification kinda throws that out of the window.

So, there are three potential options related to the Warcraft universe as far as video games are concerned. The first is content patch. However, that isn't happening. Blizzard wouldn't trademark Mists of Pandaria for something like content patch 4.4: Mists of Pandaria. It just wouldn't happen. I don't think it would happen anyway.

Next, which is what everyone seems to be assuming, is a new expansion. World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. Cool. Thats a possibility. But it just doesn't seem... right to me. If Pandaren were involved in the next expansion I don't see them getting the games namesake. After all, we didn't get "World of Warcraft: Space Goat Space Ship" or "World of Warcraft: Blowing Shit up With the Bilgewater".

Then, there is my favorite bit of speculation. That being "Warcraft IV: Mists of Pandaria". Need I say anymore? New Warcraft RTS? Its about time. Granted, I was awful at Warcraft III and can barely remember playing Warcraft II but it would still be incredibly fucking awesome. Time will tell, I guess.

Also, it could just be a huge joke on Blizzards behalf. That is also a very distinct possibility.

Diablo III Real Life Money Auction House

Holy mother of fuck are people getting up in arms about the real money auction house in Diablo III. For those that don't know but have somehow navigated to this page; the auction house is going to function very similarly to the auction house in WoW... except you can spend real money instead of in game gold. People have been going crazy with the Blizzard bashing and screaming about this so just let me post my thoughts.

I'm not gonna say whether or not I approve of this or not. All I'm gonna say is my initial thoughts. You can take those for whatever value you wish.

On one hand, this isn't really changing anything. Hardcore D3 players would be buying gear and shit with real life money anyway. There would be tons and tons of sites selling rare items and shit. All this is doing is allowing Blizzard to monitor those transactions.

But, Harth, Harth, but Harth... m-m-m-m-micro-transactions!

These aren't micro-transactions. Micro-transactions would be paying Blizzard a certain amount of money for, just as an example, Firelands raid gear to be mailed to your main character. The D3 auction house is, for example, paying some guy who raided Firelands for a few weeks real money for his gear.

Do you see the difference? Blizzard isn't just adding an infinite amount of [insert rare items here] to the auction house for $5 a piece. If you see something listed in the auction house, someone worked kinda hard for it.

On the flip side, yes, this is technically giving an advantage to people who have extra money to spend. I see both sides of the argument, and because of that I'm leaving it there. Take it for whatever you want.

My Overview of Hunter PvP

Over the past couple of days I've done a few commentaries on my Youtube channel that sort of reflect my thoughts on all three Hunter specs in PvP. I also go over my basic hotkey setup and whatnot.

Please note that if you visit my Youtube channel (link here) then you can actually watch them in 720p HD. Unless you can from that embed. I don't think you can. But I'm not sure. Just go to my channel. The videos actually look good in HD, I can't vouch for 360p.

A Lack of Information and Posting of Content

So, this is gonna be short and I just want to give a quick little update. There hasn't been much of anything to report lately. Furthermore, I've been a little busy; not to mention I do have my Youtube channel now. I'm highly considering either changing this one or starting a new blog to make it generally gaming based. There just isn't anything related to WoW going on at the moment. Sure 4.2 progression is going well but I don't need to report every first encounter kill.

If I were to switch to general gaming coverage it would give me the opportunity to talk about a lot more stuff. MMOs will always be my main focus but I do play alot of other games. Of course, that means I need to come up with a new name and redo my banner and background. Wonderful. Will consider it, however.

Alcaz Island?

Yeah, yeah. I know. This is a few days old news. Do I care? HELL NO! Seriously though, I've been a little busy these past couple weeks and my posting has been a little sporadic. Couple that with working on my Youtube videos, actually playing games, social stuff, and my other writing projects... things tend to get a little hectic. Furthermore, there really hasn't even been that much stuff to talk about when it comes to WoW.

Sure, patch 4.2 dropped and Stars did something a bit questionable if I recall correctly but I don't particularly feel like talking about that. Something on MMO-Champion did catch my eye though. That thing being Alcaz Island. Blizzard is apparently going to be using Alcaz Island for something in the future (perhaps not too distant future?). The question, of course, is what?

So the first step in answering that question is to ask more questions. What do we know about Alcaz Island? Alcaz Island is, in lore, a small island that held a human settlement off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. In the game, it hasn't really been used for too much. Newer players might not know this, but before patch 1.9, but there was a prison under Alcaz Island. This prison is where the Defias Brotherhood imprisoned King Varian Wrynn. When patch 1.9 came out, Blizzard removed him and replaced him with a Naga.

Thats about all we know. So, what could this island be used for? My thoughts are the War of the Ancients content patch later in Cataclysm. How? I'm not exactly sure. Perhaps it'll be related to the Black Dragonflight in some way due to Onyxia's connections with the Defias. Who knows? It might be turned into a five man instance. It might be an instanced quest hub. It might be an instanced quest area. There are several options for it. Hell, we might not even see it this expansion. It could be really early data files for the next expansion. There simply is no way to tell.

Its still very, very interesting though.

4.2 and Terraria

Once the servers went back up Tuesday I was ready to log on and do a couple of BGs to document any Hunter PvP changes. Then I took a glance at the final patch notes and realized there were no major hunter changes. You aren't making video content easy, Blizz.

In other news, parts of my UI are broken. Most notably is my combat text. I'll film again once that gets fixed.

But in the mean time, I would like to take this opportunity to plug my Youtube channel because the first episode of my Terraria "Let's Play" went up today. Its gonna be a long series, more than likely. So be sure to check that out and do the usual Youtube thing ( rate/comment/subscribe) for more!
